Ariane2 Moto2 February 2011 Press Release

ArianeTech Engineering has forwarded us the latest news and pictures on the development of their Moto2 race bike:

Past February 7th and 8th, the Ariane2 ran in Cheste circuit, Valencia.

The target was to go ahead with the settings and it was fulfilled.

The fast lap times confirm the Ariane2 good and quick adaption to the track.

Moto2 Racing News: Ariane2 Press Release

Here at RareSportBikes.com, we have a special connection to the Moto2 developments this year. When we get permission, we’ll be providing some great behind the scenes exposure as one of our main contributors is directly involved in the project. Stay tuned for more information!

For now, here is a press release with a couple of pictures of the bike in progress:

Last Saturday January 29th, the Ariane2 was ridden on a track for the first time.

The place was Alcarrás circuit, where it ran 30 laps.

Jaume Ferrer, experienced rider in Moto2 class was the first rider to test the Ariane 2 and his first words after 5 laps were: This bike gives me a very good feeling.
After Ferrer, Javier Alviz took the bike and was the next rider to test the brand new Ariane2.

With the Ariane2 it was very easy to cornering and stable on the long and fast corners as well.

As it was the first test, the riders had just to give us the feedback from the Ariane2 on the track.

As soon as the practice finished, both riders comment us how comfortable and easy was to ride fast with it.

Concerning technical side, we have to say that all the components run prefectly and the words of Lluis Juarez, TMR Team owner were: With the Ariane2 we have saved 3 or 4 months in comparasion with other bikes in setting up and testings to be competitive in moto2 class.
Now, the Ariane2 is ready for all those teams that could be interested in testing it.

Ducati Fogarty History: His 888 Race Machine and His 888 Corsa Present From Ducati

Bonhams is auctioning off the one of a kind Ducati 888 Corsa that was piloted by the legendary man himself, Carl Fogarty. In fact he won both the Superbike race and the headline in 1993 at the North West 200.

The second machine at auction is an 888 Corsa presented to him by Ducati as a gift to recognize his success.

The first is the Ducati 888 Corsa on which Fogarty won both the Superbike race and the headline event at the North West 200 in 1993, and which subsequently was campaigned by Michael Rutter in the British Superbike Championship.

This historic machine was purchased by the current vendor in 2005 and has since been rebuilt by marque specialist John Hackett at Ducati Coventry. Estimate £26,000 – 30,000. The auction will take place at the International Motorcycle Show in Staffordshire on April 24th.

The 888 Corsa was reunited with Fogarty at the Ulster Grand Prix meeting in August 2009 where he rode the second of the two Ducatis on offer: the 1998 916SPS ‘Fogarty Replica.’

This machine, the second off the production line, was given to Carl by the Ducati factory and comes with two authenticating plaques, one of which states that the gift was in recognition of his ‘outstanding contribution to the success of Ducati.’

So, here we are at Saturday and I am pumped about getting out and shooting some good photos. Quickly my lack of skills let me down with the quality that I was seeing from my lens. Surely, it must be the old, used equipment that I purchased because I’m a fairly quick learner at most things. Luckily, Dan was there to reassure me that it wasn’t the camera or me, but it was the lack of post processing of the photo’s. I was seriously skeptical because being an amateur I had never been exposed to ‘post processing’ of photo’s. Hell, for all I knew you took the picture and if you didn’t like it you just threw it away… I can hear you laughing at me and I don’t think it’s very funny!

Grab a cold one, sit back, relax and enjoy all that was Saturday at Indy MotoGP-

Yep! This is yours truly sitting on the little Moriwaki. Since I’m a huge fan of small cc bikes I’d buy one if they’d bring it.

Not much to say here-

This one of Lorenzo has been tweaked and is now my screen saver. Kool (Dan) and the Gang (Dan’s wife, my wife and I) had the pleasure of seeing Mr. Lorenzo at St. Elmo’s Friday night. I hope he enjoyed his Surf-n-Turf

Doug’s Friday Gallery from Indianapolis MotoGP 2010

Please keep in mind that I am an amateur photographer wanna-be. Yes, that’s right! I don’t even make amateur status yet because I only recently upgraded from my point and shoot Sony camera. Our boy, Dan, has helped me immensely, but I still have a long way to go in honing my virgin skills of photography. So, with that said here is a sampling of my Friday shots with out any post processing. I have pretty thick skin so I can take some ribbing, but go easy on me.

I do want to take a moment to explain how we made it to Indy MotoGP this year-

In February I started talking to IMS about what it would take to obtain the ever elusive ‘All Access’ press pass. Obviously, we don’t have articles written about MotoGP, but I figured “what the heck!” since we have carved out a nice little niche for ourselves at RSB.com with in excess of 125,000 views every month.

Like my Grandpa always told me “Son, you can’t get what you don’t ask for.” and that has stuck with me for as long as I can remember (just ask Dan- I do ). The first reply I received from IMS was that press passes are extremely hard for .com companies to obtain. Being the stubborn ass that I am and having seen our buddies over at Asphalt & Rubber get them for Laguna, I had a glimmer of hope. After all, we all have a common thread in motor cycles right?

Well, fast forward 6 months to August and we were shut down by IMS and Dorna. Reasoning? I’m still waiting for the official word, but I’m not holding my breathe. Now, any connoisseur of motor cycling photography will quickly spot that we didn’t have general admission tickets, but we managed in our own secret way.

Enough blabbering by me and on with the show-

Team Veloce Pit Garage- It was fun meeting our own Jay Bernard.

I’ve already admitted that my first day was bad, but I assure you I did ‘cut my teeth’ rather quickly and Saturday was much, much better.

Indianapolis MotoGP 2010: Dan’s Sunday Gallery

Our last day at the Indianapolis Motor Speeday, we decided to relax and enjoy the races more than shooting pictures. That said, we still got a lot!

On a sad note, we were sad to learn of the death or Moriwaki class rider Peter Lenz. There was no mention of his passing at the track over the public address system and we were shocked to hear the news later that night on television. God speed to a very talented rider in a terribly tragic accident.

We started our day by running to turn 2 that had a wonderful unobstructed view of the riders to catch the Moriwaki class. We were rooting for Jake Lewis who has been tutored under Earl Hayden riding for Team Veloce:

Next up was the Ducati two-up demonstration laps where brave souls paid to ride behind Randy Mamola on a Ducati Desmodici RR!

I spent the most of Saturday soaking all that is Indy MotoGP by walking around as much as possible. I probably dropped 10lbs in the heat and humidity but it was so worth it. I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I did taking them!
