Here’s the latest update from our friends at Arianetech on their development efforts:

Last Wednesday June 8th. Arianetech Engineering has given the Ariane2 to Motorrad Competición team to start the developing in Montmeló circuit.

Sergio Fuertes is the Ariane2 responsible rider for this job.

Sergio has a wide experience riding 4 stroke bikes, in 2003 and 2004 in SBK World Championship, from 2005 to 2008 in CEV (Spanish Championship) with Motorrad Competición in Formula Extreme class.

This experience allows him to transmit clearly his sensations to the engineers making him the perfect rider to develop the Ariane2 on track.

During the first season, he ran for 5 laps on wet due to the rain, on the second season, he rode a total of 50 laps on dry track that allowed him to inform to the engineers with full details about his feelings, the best of all were his words after the test season: “Never I’ve got such amount of good feeling from a bike”. Further to this sensations the telemetric data confirmed the evolution so, we are confidence that the Ariane2 will be with the top competitors very soon.

The enthusiasm and dedication shown by the rider and technical staff, made us augur a promising future from the union of Motorrad Competición and Arianetech Engineering for Ariane2 developing goal.

from the Hemmings Blog:

Some of these names you may not recognize, but they have a few things in common. All are European-built, with road racing in one of the under-350cc Grand Prix classes in mind, and share the small fairing and racing board (seat) prevalent in Sixties and Seventies road course competition.

* 1957 Bianchi 175 used a single-cylinder 8hp overhead-cam engine.
* 1972 Benelli/Motobi model 2C. The Motobi company was started by one of the Benelli sons in 1950 and re-acquired by Benelli in 1962. Motobi bikes were continued with the Benelli tank badges until the early Seventies. Some Motobis were imported into the United States and rebadged as Montgomery Ward Riversides.
* 1977 Aspes 125. This bike featured a two-stroke Minarelli engine made in Italy. Aspes also made a model they called the “Bimbo.”
* 1969 Malanca. Another bike that featured a Minarelli two-stroke, although only 50cc.
* 1978 Villa. These motorcycles were constructed for racing from a 310cc Moto-Villa single-cylinder engine with a six-speed transmission mounted on a Benelli 2C frame similar to the Motobi.

One of the things I found interesting about these bikes is that the Bonhams appraisers estimate they will all sell in the $1,300 to $3,500 range. Genuine affordable fun.

These are seriously tasty at those projected prices! Would be a fun way to start a collection, or snag one for the 1 hour loop ride around the edge of town — we all have one of those right?

Update 3.14.2011: Here is there latest press release:

Past February 26th, March 1st and 5th the Ariane2 ran in Alcarras, Montmeló and Cheste
circuits.

Several riders had the chance to ride it, we are very grateful for their comments because
they help us to set up the suspensions and confirm the bike as a serious contender for
the championships.

The riders stood out the rigidity and easy handling as well as the stability when full open
the throttle from inside of the curves.

The fast lap times confirm the Ariane2 faster day by day in every track.
